Note in the example above that this particular system is 64-bit (Note System Type towards the bottom of the screen). Be sure that the USB to serial
converter you select is compatible with your computer’s operating system. Pay particular attention if your computer uses a 64-bit operating system.
Several USB to serial converters may not have driver software available for 64-bit systems.
2- Once you have determined the operating system of your PC, and properly installed the converter per the manufacturer’s instructions, you are
ready to connect to the module. See Identifying COM port of PC if communication issues persist.
Identifying COM port of PC
1- The Auto Detect function of ProTune II can be used to automatically identify and select the com port the ECM is connected to. To use the Auto
Detect function, follow the steps below.
a- Select “Serial Port Settings…” from the Options menu. This will open the ECM Communications Port window shown below.
